Disinfection by-products prediction models and DBP Risk Explorer

We are pleased to share the publication of one of the latest outcomes of the SafeCREW project, now featured on the European Commission’s Horizon Results Platform.

This result focuses on a tool for the prediction of the main regulated disinfection by-products in drinking water distribution networks disinfected with chlorine. It helps utilities to improve drinking water safety under climate change conditions, contributing to more sustainable and resilient water management systems across Europe.

Web-based application – DBP RISK EXPLORER

Building on the developments carried out for the creation of the water management tool, an online web-based application is available for utilities to generate preliminary estimations of DBP concentrations (THMs, HAAs, HANs, and chlorate) and the associated risk levels throughout the distribution network. This tool is designed as an initial decision-support resource, allowing users to visualize and assess potential water quality issues in a simplified and accessible environment. The website is open and available on DBP Risk Explorer.
