Case Study Site Tarragona welcomed SafeCREW project officer on 22 January 2026

The Project Officer of the European project SafeCREW, Sofia Pachini, has visited CAT‘s Drinking Water Treatment Plant (ETAP) in L’Ampolla, Catalonia, to learn first-hand about the progress we are making through this initiative, funded by the European Union.

During the visit, which was also attended by representatives of Eurecat – Technology Centre, our partner in the project, CAT presented the work they are carrying out in optimizing water treatment and modeling the network. At the same time, the visit of the SafeCREW delegate, appointed by the European Commission, allowed us to present the first results achieved.

The European project SafeCREW is already contributing to strengthening the resilience of drinking water supply systems to the impact of climate change, demonstrating how technological innovation and international collaboration are key to ensuring more sustainable water services adapted to future challenges.

On 26 March, Brussels will host the Final Conference of the SafeCrew project. It will be then that the European entities participating in the project will publicly present the conclusions of the study and the proposals that water operators from all over the Mediterranean basin will be able to integrate into their systems to continue providing safe drinking water in the current context of climate change.
