SafeCREW research on DBP at Winter School 2024 in Porto

The Winter School on Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) and Disinfection By-Products (DBPs) 2024 brought together 250 researchers, professionals, and students to explore the latest advancements in understanding and managing contaminants and by-products in water treatment processes. As part of the event, Jon Wullenweber (DVGW-TUHH) together with Mattia Stefanoni (POLIMI) presented a poster on Natural Organic Matter (NOM) Transformation after Chlorination, featuring latest results from the safeCREW Project. This research aims to deepen insights into the formation of Disinfection By-Products (DBPs). SafeCREW researchers Beatrice Cantoni and Marco Matracchi also attended the Winter School.

The Winter School was organised by our two ZeroPollution4Water Cluster sister projects, MAR2PROTECT and H2OforAll and took place 25-26th November 2024 in Porto. It presented an overview of the current state of knowledge and the latest advances regarding the occurrence, impact, and elimination of Disinfection By-Products (DBPs), Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs), and microbial contamination to provide solutions to face the risks in providing safe drinking water and alternative water sources for crops production.
